Adobe Scripts

When I began developing custom scripts for Adobe Photoshop and After Effects in the summer of 2024, it reminded me of the story of Benjamin Franklin, his kite, and the lightning, and how he stumbled on to something that would change his life. I, of course, was Benjamin, my computer was the kite and the JavaScript files were the lightning. I instantly realized that scripting would transform my creative workflow for the remained of my career. What started slowly with small projects quickly grew into intricate, powerful tools that now automate nearly 80% of my workflow. Below are screen recordings showcasing some of my most frequently used scripts in action, developed for the 110 Brand, NIL Guy, and Retro Art By Artie titles.

Please note that the screen recordings significantly decrease the speed of these scripts and the stopwatch reflects a time that is 50% slower than the real speed in which these scripts run.

All photos, logos, or personal likenesses featured belong to their respective owners and I do not claim any rights over them.

Script: Creates a vintage style design for 110 Brand based on variables selected in an initial dialog window.

Note(s): Each asset in the dropdown menus or checkboxes are placed in the precise, pixel-perfect location consistently through every use.

Actual Run Time: 2 minutes and 58 seconds.

Script: Exports a range of assets for 110 Brand and NIL Guy advertising and their respective social media accounts.

Note(s): This script exports a total of 29 .jpgs, 9 .pngs, and 1 .mp4 file; including a .jpg and .png file of the final vintage design, 10 unique advertisements with the design and inputted name displayed, a story-sized .jpg, a 1:1 square .jpg, 9 .jpg frames, an .mp4 animation showing the process of the design, the front and back of playing cards with a mockup of both, 5 apparel mockup .jpgs, an additional 5 uniquely sized .jpg and .png images for different print-on-demand merchandise, and finally a sized down icon .jpg for the folder in the directory.

Actual Run Time: 6 minutes and 16 seconds.

Script: Creates a new folder with five subfolders and four standardized files using the inputted name.

Note(s): The script uses information from the overall folder where each subfolder is numbered to create a new subfolder titled with the next number in sequence, the inputted first name, and the inputted last name. The five sub-subfolders created dictate where future files are housed. One of these sub-subfolders, “Linked PSDs” creates four square files to be used later.

Actual Run Time: 10 seconds.

Script: Creates a vintage style design for Retro Art By Artie based on variables selected in an initial dialog window.

Note(s): This script differs from the 110 Brand script as it shows the user the different name font and design choices. It also automatically takes each photo labeled in a standardized manner and places them in the correct location and shows them in five different options for each corner of the design to make choosing which element to use much easier.

Actual Run Time: 3 minutes and 24 seconds.

Script: Exports a range of assets for Retro Art By Artie advertising and its social media accounts. Most of these assets are mockups where the final vintage design is placed pixel-perfect on the provided t-shirt image.

Note(s): This script exports a total of 61 .jpgs, 1 .png file and 1 .mp4 file; including a .jpg and .png file of the final vintage design, 1 size chart .jpg with the final design, 2 direct apparel mockup .jpgs, 18 stock photo mockup .jpgs, 38 athlete and celebrity mockup .jpgs, 1 .mp4 advertisement video using the stock photo mockups and finally a sized down icon .jpg for the folder in the directory.

Actual Run Time: 10 minutes and 55 seconds.

Scripts: Creates and exports a TikTok/Instagram Reel advertisement video for Retro Art By Artie social media accounts using a pre-downloaded video, a celebrity mockup from the export script, and automatic text-to-speech integration all from the initial After Effects dialog window.

Note(s): After selecting the folder where the design is housed, the TikTok Mockup Choices dropdown menu automatically populates with all the available options for the user to choose which is placed in the video. A video is chosen next and finally the text-to-speech text is inputted and a male or female voice is chosen. The script will put all of these variables together and all the user has to do is size the video and mockup to fit the canvas. An export script is run afterwards and exports the video via Adobe Media Encoder into the “Video” folder created previously.

Actual Run Time: 2 minutes and 54 seconds.
